If you notice any of the following occurring with your whole-house humidifier, make sure to call McQuillan Home Services® and inquire about repair services as soon as possible:
When your whole-home humidifier is experiencing power issues, it is usually due to the humidistat. The humidistat senses the humidity levels and communicates to the unit when to power on. If your system is experiencing power issues, call McQuillan Home Services® for assistance on repairing the humidistat.
One of the most common issues with whole-home humidifier systems is leaking. Many of these systems have a water reservoir and when they become clogged or obstructed, it can cause the reservoir to leak. If your humidifier is leaking in your home, call McQuillan Home Services® to have it serviced.
You can be sure that your whole-house humidifier system is working when it’s producing humidity and steam. If you notice your unit not producing humidity or steam, there is likely a clog in the intake or drain lines, or an issue with either the solenoid or humidistat. In either case, you will need to contact McQuillan Home Services® to have the issue repaired and restored to normal working condition.
Whole-home humidifiers rely on an evaporator pad or panel to provide humidity. If you are noticing that your humidifier is receiving water but is not providing sufficient humidity for your home, then you will need to have McQuillan Home Services® come out to fix the panel.
Your whole-home humidifier will produce some amount of noise, but typically nothing that is too loud, obnoxious, or even noticeable, for that matter. If your humidifier starts making louder noises than normal, this could be due to a clog or unlubricated motor and will require professional repair from McQuillan Home Services®.

We called McQuillan Home Services to have an electrician come out on short notice to help remedy a home project gone awry. Derek K and Adam H both came out and were incredible. They listened to our concerns and were so helpful, even taking time to add a thermostat repair onto their trip and never once making me feel silly for asking questions. They immediately gained my trust and I would 100% hire them again.Because of the experience above, I decided to call McQuillan Home Services again when our heat was on the fritz. This time, we had Jeremiah Y come out and this was a very different experience. I was clear with Jeremiah that we we were looking for the most affordable option to buy us some time as we were bound by financial constraints. He proceeded to present three tiered options for me, with the highest option costing well over $5,000 and all three levels including the McQuillan Home Care Club Membership fee. All he needed was a suit and tie for that sales pitch. After talking through the lowest tier and most economical option, which was still in the $1,500 range, he let on that the unit control system which he had recommended I replace had a "potential" electrical fault because "it didn't look good." I asked a few more questions about this and finally, he admitted that he wasn't sure that the unit control system was the source of the problem and thus could not guarantee that replacing it would restore the heat, yet he still included this recommendation in his most economical option. Ultimately, for $400, we replaced the flame proving system, which he could say with certainty was no longer functioning properly, and our heat has been restored and is working fine today. All this to say, McQuillan Home Services is fantastic, depending on the person you get. I can personally vouch for Derek K and Adam H who work with integrity and will never upsell you. Sometimes you don't know until you know, but I hope this helps the next person who hates nothing more than being taken advantage of in their own home.

PROUDLY SERVING THE TWIN CITIES & SURROUNDING AREAS FOR OVER 135 YEARS
Like any other HVAC system, your humidifier needs to be serviced. To keep your humidifier in proper working order, you’ll need to have your humidifier professionally serviced by McQuillan Home Services® at least once a year. Humidifiers are complex systems that require professional attention. It’s a good idea to have your yearly preventative maintenance done on your humidifier in the fall when you have your HVAC system serviced. Preventative maintenance will help prevent repairs and extend the life of your unit greatly.
Yes, humidifiers can absolutely help with allergies. Humidifiers can help reduce allergy allergy symptoms and improve the health of the mucous membranes of the airway, if properly maintained. If neglected, humidifiers can actually worsen allergy symptoms and even cause other illnesses as bacteria and fungi can grow, which can be dangerous when inhaled and breathed into your lungs. To avoid this, all you have to do is have your humidifier professionally maintained by McQuillan Home Services® at least once a year and your humidifier will help with allergies.
It doesn’t make a lot of sense to install both a humidifier and a dehumidifier in a house, as they both are working to do the opposite of the other. If you are struggling to decipher whether a humidifier or a dehumidifier is what you and your home needs, call McQuillan Home Services® to have a heating and cooling expert come out to your home to help figure out which is more appropriate for your home.
Upgrade your home hassle-free with our flexible financing options. From repairs to installations, we’ve got you covered. Contact McQuillan Home Services® today to discover the perfect plan for your dream St Paul, MN home!
