Trenchless Pipe Repair

Trenchless Pipe Repair in Minneapolis-St. Paul

There is nothing worse than dealing with a damaged sewer line. In the past, the only way to resolve these problems was to dig up an entire pipe to replace it. Today, we proudly offer trenchless pipe repair, also known as cured-in-place piping.

This allows homeowners to avoid excavating or damaging their property through trenchless pipe repair. Trenchless pipe lining is an innovative sewer repair method that avoids the traditional digging and damage associated with older sewer repairs.

McQuillan Home Services will use a structural liner to build a new pipe inside of an existing pipe, repairing your pipe issues. Our plumbers have multiple techniques and tricks they use to properly repair your pipes. We’ll assess your unique situation and provide a pipe repair solution that fits your needs.

Benefits of Trenchless Pipe Repair

If your home has a walkway, a driveway, or landscaping that you’d rather not disturb with deep, messy excavations, trenchless pipe lining may be your best option for repairing damaged sewer pipes.

The main benefits of trenchless pipe service include:

  • Cost savings: Without a huge trench to dig and costly equipment to transport, your repair costs can be reduced.
  • Minimal digging and property damage: Even digging a small trench can mean lots of soil must be moved to work safely, leaving behind a huge mess and damaged landscaping that will take time to restore.
  • Quick repairs: The pipe lining process is far faster than conventional excavation since you don’t have to dig trenches and backfill and grade the soil afterward.
  • Long-lasting results: Trenchless pipe lining creates a durable repair that can last 50 years or longer.
  • Durability: Epoxy pipe lining creates a continuous, joint-free pipe that resists tree roots, cracking, and corrosion.

The Trenchless Pipe Repair Process

This is a newer method used to repair underground pipelines so not many people know how it works. Check out our process!

Camera Inspection

The first thing we do is go in with a sewer camera to identify the problem area. Once we identify the problem, we can recommend solutions that fit your needs.

Cleaning the Affected Area

Once the problem and solution have been identified, the “no dig” process can begin. The first step is to remove all roots and de-scale any calcite or other debris in order to return the pipe to it’s normal function.

Making the Repairs

After the problematic area is cleaned, we can begin the repair process. Based on the solution that you and your technician have chosen, the length of the pipe liner required is cut, and the custom two-part epoxy is mixed and poured in to permeate the felt liner.

The saturated liner is then pulled in place, the bladder is inflated and healing begins. Once the epoxy liner is healed, the bladder is removed, leaving a complete structural pipe inside the pipe.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trenchless Pipe Repair

If your sewer line is damaged or broken, you may notice:

  • Frequent drain clogs in multiple drains
  • Noisy pipes
  • Sewage backups in one fixture when another is used
  • Puddles of sewage in your yard

Request professional plumbing service as soon as you notice any of these symptoms to avoid further damage to your home.

There are two primary types of trenchless pipe repair:

  • Cured-in-place piping: In this process, an epoxy-coated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured in place, creating a new pipe inside the old pipe.
  • Pipe bursting: With this method, a specialized tool is dragged through the old pipe, expanding it, breaking the pipe apart, and drawing in a new flexible pipe simultaneously.

A trenchless sewer repair can last at least 50 years, or as long as the life of epoxy or flexible pipe that is inserted in place of the old pipe.
